An overview of TDV Design course
Growing urbanity and changing lifestyles demand high end mobility and commuting convenience. To address the changing forms of movement, one needs a thorough understanding of automotive materials & technology, systems of transportation and the future of mobility.
The transportation design course at TDV is not a styling course that focuses merely on form explorations, it deals with issues of mobility while keeping in mind the vehicular aerodynamics.
The transportation design students at TDV follow an end to end process of automobile design- addressing the industry brief, form generation, technology integration, materials and manufacturing processes.
Areas of focus
Study of materials and manufacturing processes i.e form studies, speed forms and aerodynamics.
Automotive Ergonomics – A lot of focus is laid on vehicle interiors for maximum comfort and efficiency.
Automotive Systems & Technology- Transportation as a much larger umbrella, comprises of all modes of movement, systems and technology.
4 years / 8 semesters
Candidates are chosen on the basis of a written entrance examination, a situation test and a group discussion or personal interview round conducted by TDV
Students are also encouraged to share their design portfolios at the time of the interview.

Students are introduced to pitching and vegging the clay. They experience the material and create basic structures.
